Being an avid fan of ‘The Notebook’ and ‘Dear John’, I have been anticipating the release of ‘The Vow’ in theatres since last year. And when I heard that it was already being shown, I rushed to the nearest cinema together with my cousin, before buying a home alarm, to watch it.

The movie tells the story of a young married couple who are madly in love with each other until an unfortunate accident erased Paige’s (played by Rachel McAdams) entire memory of the last five years, including the existence of Leo (played by Channing Tatum, her husband.

When I went to watch the movie I really had very high expectations and I thought it will be as good or perhaps better than Dear John and The Notebook. Unfortunately, it turns out that the movie was just so-so, nothing really striking aside from the fact that it was based from true events. Though I was not particularly impressed with how the movie turned out, particularly the ending which I felt was kind of lacking, I must commend the acting of McAdams and Tatum. In my personal opinion, they have channeled their roles superbly and they made the story look very much believable.

While the story has similarities with Adam Sandler’s movie ‘The 50 First Dates’ – the amnesia part and the guy’s persistence to woo and make the girl fall in love with him all over again – The Vow definitely bring something different on the table but it could have done much better in terms of story and character development. But overall, I’d rate ‘The Vow’ 3 out of 5 stars. If you are a sucker for love stories, then you will surely love this film.

Of all the relaxation and stress relieving techniques out there, I’m surprised that movies aren’t listed more often. I mean, they list music and aroma therapy as two approaches, but why not movies. There more entertaining then massages, but I suspect that online massage schools aren’t quite promoting it in their curriculum, but they may some day. If the top massage schools online use it, then the rest are sure to follow. If you think about it, movies are designed to draw you in and take you to another world far from your troubles. If that doesn’t make for great relaxation, I don’t know what does.
